Question cctv for cars can anyone help

Rescently my partner was robbed at knifepoint in his private hire taxi by a couple of youths and i was hoping someone could suggest a good CCTV system to use in his taxi (with a battery life/record time preferred over 4hrs).

Hello Ann, sorry to hear that.

Have a look at our product demo here :
In Car Surveillance System --- Pakatak

This product is manufactured exactly for "in taxi surveillance" - it has all the features you have mentioned and quite a few more.

Hi Ann, Pakatak's system is very very good stuff, but if your looking for something a little cheaper have a look at the taxi cam that we install at
iStorm Taxi Cctv Systems

I'm sorry to hear what happened to your hubby.

We are evaluating 3 systems at the moment. One not unlike Alan's, a forward and rear facing camera, powered from the cigarette lighter, stores onto memory card and keeps details of vehicle speed and location allowing you to view a moving map or aerial view via Google maps when playing back footage.

They are great bits of kit, my one critisism would be night time performance of IR lighting on some of the cameras. Possibly consider keeping the passenger rear light on all the time at night.

The other systems are stunning, live streaming video from the vehicle on your computer as well as live tracking and 2 way audio. The downside is cost which will be over £1,000 installed and will need professional installation.

I was interest to see that all Southampton taxis now have to have on board CCTV in order to get their licence from the council. Not cheap either for what was a fairly simple system !!

I hope you find a solution which gives both yourself and your husband some peace of mind. I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say we would all be happy to talk on the phone to give help and advice to help you choose the right CCTV system.
