The USB on the back of the DVR will be for dumping files to a usb pen stick for viewing on a pc, the only way you can link your dvr to our pc is networking, so your dvr will need to have a patch/nat socket on the back....

You could either buy a networkable DVR , Or your other option would be to buy a good quality board for your PC and then you could do with it what you wanted, If you did decide to go for a new DVR you would need to create a network in your home if you dont allready have one, usualy your pc would be connected to a router for the net.... Well that router is your key to your network, u will need a patch cable (cat5) between your router and the dvr.

Regards
Iain
