I have followed all directions in reference to getting rid of the W32.Allim worm but I have been unsuccessful thus far. I have tried at least 10 times but after following all directions and I run a scan it tells me there is the W32.Allim on my computer. Any ideas about what I am doing wrong or what steps could I be missing. Thanks for any help.

Hi dfalati - and to be perfectly honest, if my anti-virus was having problems removing an instance of infection, I would resort to a backup of my user files, and carry out a full reformat of my harddrive.
The reason being is that some malware can specifically target anti-virus software, so if the malware is already running on your machine, then it may interfere with any following anti-virus installs intended to remove it. And some malware is, unfortunately, just plain tenacious. If you do try a reformat, do ensure that your anti-virus software is installed *and* updated, before reinstalling user files. That way, if there is an infection present within any of them, they can be dealt with by anti-virus already prepared for the threat. Hope that helps. |
