Hi, my name is Barry Schofield. I have been in this industry now over 30 years and am still amazed at the changes that happen every day. I am a business consultant now and I am very interested in any ones views on the licensing of our industry. Any comments would be most welcome.

Licensing can only be a good thing.
Think about it Most people in a position of trust have to be certified (Teachers, doctors, police, even taxi drivers) I feel sorry for some of the small companies that may be put out of business due to the costs, but if it means that the officers are better trained then it can only be good. Hopefully will filter out some of the quetionable guards i've met. It should also protect some of the better ones. I dont know how the new licensing works so I can only say my immediate thoughts, but I think as long as it is properly run and doesn't interfere with the running of things too much it will be good. I also think the companies should all be licenced as I knew of a few that were run by the local mobs. |
