Default Best home security products

I'm listing what I think work best as home security products:

1. Double glazing
2. Window locks
3. Secure door locks
4. Burglar alarm
5. Home surveillance - ie, mini-CCTV system
6. Neighbourhood Watch (or similar)

Did I miss anything?

Cool Re: Best home security products

How about a dog? No joke...I remember reading somewhere that crooks will often skip a house with a barking dog.

Dogs are certainly a deterrent - but a determined burglar may try and drug or simply poison dogs. Definitely something you need to be aware of. Had a friend in Ireland had that happen to hers. But she did live in a *very* large house, which I guess a very determined burglar - as opposed to an opportunist - may target.

If the kid's in your area are real B******s maybe an anti-arson letterbox. Basically it's a metal box (10 cm deep) with extinguisher that you fit to the rear of your door. minute the inside of the box hits 50c the extinguisher goes off.
Got it after the ones round here threw some fireworks through my neighbours door. also heard of some people putting lighter fluid through the letterbox (it works against that too).
To get your mail just unlock it and open the flap on the rear.
And if your wondering where i live try this one out. On the side of the local shop someone has spraypainted "welcome to little beruit"

Hidden cameras and monitoring systems would probably get me paranoid more than anything; if I was to start being scared, I'd probably go with a dog. Lots of care, but works well too

I think you listed some great devices, but do agree with the dog, my Dog has saved my life and my home over a burglar situation, of course she is a very large dog and I think that had a lot to do with it, A dog is a great way to protect your family.
