Al Gore's no movie has mad me wonder whether man can really do anything to control it. Just about all scientists agree that Global Warming exists but some scientists think that these climate changes are natural and man can't do anything about it. I'm no scientist so I really don't know. Anybody have an opinion?

In Eng;and on the BBC right now, there's a series of programmes regarding Climate Change and how man has affected it. I'm sure man has made a huge impact on global warning. climate changes ARE natural, yes, but the speed at which they're happening now is the real issue.

It really depends on whose opinion your listening to at the time. I hear some scientists and I think humans definitely have an effect. Then I listen to other scientists who say man couldn't affect global warming if we tried. I don't think anyone really knows or sure.

It's funny how the US has really resisted addressing the issue - from the outside, it looks like there's a lot of politics and propaganda at play. It's hard not to see a lot of those oil dollars having been used to discredit Global Warming, at least on the political and public stage.
It's pretty sad, really - you'd think with tornadoes, hurricanes, and flooding, that the US would be aware just how susceptible a lot of it is to climate change should it happen. Another sad thing I noticed is that a number of people online who've argued passionately that evolution is scientific fact and that science is an objective standard everyone can rely on, suddenly change tact on the issue of climate change and imply that science has become overrun by subversive leftists intent on destroying scientific credibility. I gues maybe that explains why Europe at least takes the issue seriously as an environmental issue, while in the USA it's something to set industry and politics against anyone who says otherwise. 2c. |

The only thing is he might not yet be ready to accept that man has contributed to it and that there are critical things that can be done about it |

I really believe nobody can say for sure whether man causes global warming. It depends on what scientist your listening to and what data they want to selectively choose to analyze. Great column on the subject:

The simple truth is that climate change warnings due to man have been around since the 70's, but it seems that some US writers would now have us believe that the world's climatologists have somehow been hijacked by some kind of shaowy conspiracy of environmentalists. It's true that in science there's no such thing as "absolute proof" in many theories - many of Einstein's ideas have been accepted for decades without being properly tested (as much due to limitations with technology) - but once science intrudes on business sensibilities then it becomes a target. 2c. |

It is such the daunting task to put a label on the cause or solution for global warming. In a world where everything is automatic, this is a long problem that will require a very long solution. I just hope we think of something soon, very soon.
