Default Window locks

Here in the house I rent, they've just installed these cool window locks which open only with a key (hung on a hook near the window but not reachable from the outside). This is great since the windows are super old and since the house has shifted over the last 200 years, some of the locks didn't work right.

It sounds good, but of interest do people actually remember to lock the windows.

I've got locks on my windows, but I must be honest and say I don't use the keys.

Window locks are definitely a good move - I remember in one rented property I was in, some kids came around the side of the property and tried to pry open a window with a screwdriver - while someone was actually in the room!

I always lock my windows. I think its important to make sure the windows are all new as well. I get nervous on those old houses with the huge glass windows. They are so easy to break into.

I lock windows. With the weather we're having lately I have several windows open as long as I'm up and in the house. When I have to go out and when I go to bed I make sure to lock up. I don't know how effective it is, really, but I feel safer.

Have you used snaplocks for your windows? How is it?

I always lock my windows before I go out at night or before I leave the house. It is just something I was always told you should do. It may not help all that much but it sure will make it harder for someone to get in.

Well if they're the same as ours, they seem to break or jam quite easily; hope that the people installing it made a better job than ours did

I've actually never heard of lock and key windows before. We have snap locks on our windows...and while sometimes they are hard to pry open after being locked for awhile, I think they do the trick nicely

I would agree. This was the first I had heard about lock and key type windows also. I mentioned this the other day to someone because I was wondering if he had ever heard of them. I wouldn't want the ones that lock with a key because I am forever losing my car keys. I could see me losing these in a heartbeat.
