Default Jogging tips for woman.

10 things you could do to train safely
  • Train with someone else – preferably more than one person
  • Vary your route and your training time every day.
  • Run with you keys nestled between your fingers – in an attack situation they will function like a knuckleduster (go for your attackers most vulnerable parts – eyes, throat, face, groin)
  • Wear reflective clothing or light clothing so that you are visible to motorists
  • Carry pepper spray or one of the many anti-mugging devices on the market. Make sure you know how it works and don’t be scared to use it
  • Do a course in basic self-defence
  • Carry a whistle around your neck so that you can raise the alarm in a crisis
  • Train with your dog – a large one.
  • Tell someone exactly which route you will be following and when you can be expected to return
  • Be on the alert for strangers in the area – if you think you are being followed, run to the nearest place where there are people – a house, a petrol station or even just a busy road.

It's okay to take your dog along for a light run, but a long jog isn't great for most large dogs. It's a bit tough on them. The younger ones can certainly do it, but the older a dog gets, the harder a run is on their bones. Just like humans lol.

Some good pointers there.

I would also add that if you think you're being followed, don;t go home - go to somewhere where there will be other people, such as a shop.

My girlfriend did exactly this after she was followed home by some creep from close quarters - when she got to our street, she just ignored our house and went to the corner shop at the end instead, and keep a lookout from there. She was probably additionally safe as the corner-shop guy was a big skin-head biker and not one to mess with.

Mine would be don't jog. LOL just kidding, I don't jog but I do walk and usually take my teenage son with me for protection, he is a big boy and I feel safe walking with him and I think having someone with you make you a less likely target, no one wants to try to take on two people at the same time.

It all totally depends on what kind of dog you have if you want to take them along. I have a french bulldog, theyre small but they certainly cannot run for a long time.

It's a good idea to run in areas that aren't too remote. That way, you can call for help if you need it.

There were some great pointers here, I am a jogger and nevver thought about it I jog in what I consider to be a safe neiborhood, but you can never be to careful, so I will take some of these pointers to heart in the future, thanks.

Okay I jog during the summer and I think I've broken every one of the safety rules. Why is it that I always feel that nothing bad will ever happen? I have to start being more careful. Thanks for the great safety tips!

In my town, there is a part about three miles from my house that has a jogging track around the perimeter. there are not a lot of trees in this part, more covered areas for picnics, and open areas for tossing around a baseball or football - and the jogging track of course. It is pretty easy to see the whole area, so a lot of women like to go there and jog.

Good points and they are noted. It is always good to keep a cool head and not get panicked evey if you are followed. As others said earlier I will stress upon the fact that it is better not to go home.
