Default The Pope and Islamics

Well, the Pope certainly created a firestorm of protest. Now, there are death threats against him. What do you guys think? Are the Muslims protesting too much about this or not?

Its a holy war. I dont think we have learned anything in all our history on this planet. We are still fighting the same thing. God. I think the muslins though better rethink taking on all the christians since the numbers are pretty equal.

The numbers are what's really frightening. You've got half the world going one way, and the other half going theirs. I keep thinking this is going to polarize religion even more than in the past. Arggh.

Well, there's a good prayer! What I sometimes wonder if this will push people away from religion in general or make them go toward it. It's certainly sent me running!

Was really surprised at the Pope's apology on the issue - not sure what the original reference was, but when there's no riot over leaders of Islamic countries declaring war and death on non-Muslims (ie, Israel and the West) I'm pretty incredulous at what's hard not to perceive as appeasement to the more radical factions in Islam.

Maybe I just didn't hear the whole story...

I thought it was a huge over reaction, but in many ways, the Pope had no choice but to apologize. Apparently, in a speech he was talking about the history of violence with fundamentalist Islamics in the 14th Century. The modern day ones took exception and got riled up. They refused to look at the scholarly context in which he meant the reference, so he apologized.
