I have to say I don't mind the door locks. I drive a 4-door car and travel in risky neighborhoods sometimes for my job, so I'm just as glad to know the doors will lock automatically and I won't have to always be frantically checking to make sure I've got them all.
As for the seatbelts, all I can do is quote one of my friends who is a paramedic: "In twenty years on the job, I've never once had to unbuckle a corpse." |

Why would it be good to have the windows rolled up when you're going more than 20 mph?????? Geeze, with gas costs, it's nice to have the windows down and the AC off in the summer! Take my windows away and I'd scream!

I hear you on that one. I want my windows. I know that we also have a feature on our car where we can lock the doors and window in the back and the kids cannot unlock them which is nice to have when you have young children.

It's so funny about those child locks. I don't have kids but I have one dog that likes to ride shot gun, and he's worked out how, in three cars now, to use the button to put his window down. There have been times when he sits on that side putting it down, and I use the master control to put it up again. A time or two, I've had to put the child lock in effect on his side!

Dogs can be pretty clever when it comes to finding ways to open car windows. When I was a kid, if we left the window open so much as a crack, out miniature dascshund would pry at it and try to get it open so he could get out of the car.
BTW, if you're going at any kind of speed at all, it's better to have the windows either all the way open or all the way closed. Otherwise, in a t-bone accident that snaps your neck toward the window, that sharp pane of glass can act pretty much like a guillotine. Get the picture? |

I hate those things! My chevy silverado that I used to have would do that and it drove me nuts.. It was measured by how fast you were going. After you hit a certain speed or rpm, the darn things would lock ... I'm still not sure what the point was in that.

Some lock at speeds as low as 10 MPH, probably a measure to protect children, but I really get sick of having to deal with things made for adults but modified to protect children. IF the child has a seat belt on, there's no reason to worry about a door being locked, and vice versa.
