Default Car safety

I'm driving a rental car at the moment which has a feature that's driving me crazy! The doors automatically lock after about 30 seconds. I can understand the theory behind this, but even if you automatically unlock them, they lock again. I want a choice!!!!

I totally agree. The paternalistic attitude that I'm not able to take responsibility for my own decisions so someone else will make them for me, irks me no end. I'm all for seatbelts and helmets, too, just very against being made to wear them.

I agree. I dislike being treated as if I am not capable of a decision. Besides, I think auto locks and seat belts are often dangerous.

Totally agree. I hate when the seat belt goes over me when im just getting in the car. The electric door locks are scary with the kids. What if they climbed in my accident?

Don't forget those automatic windows either. I've seen kids and dogs nearly get their heads cut off when the driver's control of it gets accidentially pushed.

I really don't like when some of those cars have automatic locks. And you might accidentally leave something inside and then you ended up getting lock out.

When seat belt laws were first put into effect, I thought it was a good idea, but it bothers me when there are circumstances where it is better not to wear one and you don't have a choice. Too much nanny state for me!

When we bought our last car it had the automatic door locks. Oh do I hate those. I constantly forget about them. They drive me nuts.

I think the best way to go is have your doors locked if you are travelling more than 20MPH. Our car has this security feature.

Wow that's a nifty feature...windows should be rolled up as well...as for seat belts they help save your life...so they are good choices.
