Our fenced back yard shares a boundary with another back yard but the unfenced area behind the garage faces a woods. We've found beer cans there and surmise the local kids were hanging out at least once. We're thinking of getting a motion sensing floodlight for that area. Does anybody have any experiences or advice about these to share?

I use motion lights for my front and back porches. They work but they also go on if a animal is moving within the radius of the lights and even sometimes in the rain. I didnt think it was a big investment and i cant really complain but every time i go to check when the light goes on no one is around lol.

I remember feeling pretty secure about having outdoor sensor lights - I'm sure if the kids are gathering at the bushes behind your house, then they may not be so keen on continuing to do so if there's a big light shoining down against them.
![]() Of course, doesn't mean to say the kids will cause any problems in the first place, but the point is that the sensor lights are there to deter trouble from anyone in the first place. 2c. |

I use these on our front porch. We have a lot of problems also with kids walking around at all hours of the night. You are right though that animals tend to set it off. I have had that happen a lot. But I just feel more safe knowing that if someone gets close to my house that this light will alert me. Not full proof but it helps.

I'd say for your case go ahead and get the sensor lights. We have them and they are always going off no matter what. I would say if you had a sensor light go off on them they would scatter fairly quickly
