Nowadays, thieves target mostly on renters home. So, security of renters home is as important as home owners'. Here are the some tips
1. always check window and door locks 2. Look into renters insurance 3. Invest in home security systems. |

I have to agree with these suggestions full heartedly. From experience if you are renting an apartment is GET RENTER'S INSURANCE!! When I first moved into my apartment I didn't have it, got majorly flooded and lost almost everything! We've since been flooded 2 more times.
We have also had our share of attempted break ins luckily the would be theives just tried our backdoor to see if it was unlocked and left. Our apartment complex though, for those who weren't so lucky did nothing whatsoever - well they did tell us our security was not thier concern and to phone the police listen to papia a good renter's insurance policy and security system shouldn't cost an arm and a leg and trust me you'll need it at some point - if not consider yourself very lucky ![]() |

I would have to agree with all the other posters above. The one thing I cannot stress enough though is to get the renter's insurance. I just had a friend that lost everything in a fire and because she didn't have any renters insurance she has no way to replace any of it. I say that the renters insurance is just well worth the money. You just never know when something is going to happen.

I carry renter's insurance and also choose apartments that I know are safe. Fortunately, I used to work in law enforcement, so I know some apartment complexes to avoid (they look nice but car break ins happen all the time).

I had a friend who got burgled - then he moved to the flat upstairs and bought a load of electrical stuff after getting a new job.
I nagged him to get insurance, but he said he'd get around to it. Almost got some quotes delivered to help him make the effort. He thought he was safe from being broken into again. Inevitably, he was burgled again, and lost it all again - and, no, he hadn't taken out any insurance. Just sad, really. |
