Are you already speaking to friends and relatives using Internet phone? I love it and it's a great money saver. Read about it here:

Yes I use skype plus my regular phone line is voice over cable and I love it unlimited long distance at an incredible price bundled with my tv and my internet you just can not go wrong for the price.

I ried using the internet to make calls several years ago, and the results were less than stellar.
