I was always told that it wasn't good for your computer to turn it off every night. But not to long ago a person that works on computers for a living told me yes that was the case before the DSL and the cable internet that it was better to turn them off every night. Not sure what the reasoning was that he said that but maybe it has to do with not leaving the internet on all night?

When you are done for the day, you should keep your PC disconnected from power connections and from net also. It is safe to do that.

We always shut down our computers at night just before going to bed. I also heard once that it's not good to turn them off and on all the time. But I think that means quite a few times in one day, like every few hours or so.

Yes I have heard conflicting things about this too. Some people say to leave the computer on and others say to turn them on and disconnect from the INternet at night.
