Default If someone is following

If you suspect that someone is following you by foot or by a car, don't go to your home so that the stranger does not get informations about your house, go to some trusted neighbour or a public place to call police.

You are absolutely right except to the fact that you have to be 100% sure that the person is following you. I have seen more than once that the follower is simply denying the fact and easily manage to escape.

I think a lot has to do with common sense. It depends on the area and its general safety factor along with being aware of your surroundings. Alot of people just go blightly along completely unaware and that's pretty stupid.

I personally think if you have that gut feeling someone is following you you should act upon it. Better to look foolish showing up at a neighbours door than showing up dead. I agree with vicki2, it's quite foolish to be running around late at night or in areas you're unsure of.

You should always be alert and aware of your surroundings. You can always go to a gas station or other place where there are other people. If the person follows you there then you can call police from a safe place. It is better to be safe than sorry. You can also look for a home with the neighborhood watch sign in there window.

Isn't the logic a bit flawed though...if you don't want to go home so that he can't trace you....wouldn't going to your neighbour simply change the burden of problems to your neighbor :\

I agree. I would not want to put a neighbor in potential danger, so I would try to go to a public place, like a business, the library, or a gas station. I would resort to a home only if there were no other choice.

Yes, as long as you're not trying to be a hero either in the sense of "oh I'm going to go in that dark alley and corner him" type of hero.

It is also very important the one should not become unnecessarily agressive. It is better to let the situation pass. It is possible that the follower may not be in single and has the courage to follow someone. So better play safe.

That is true. One may not know if there is one single persuer or a couple more holding back to jump in at the right time. I would not try to confront someone I felt was following me; rather I would make sure I was not alone or cornered.
