Getting virus means some malicious programs have found its way onto your computer. It often happens by opening an infected email attachment. Sometimes it hapens only just by previewing the email. So, be careful about any email attachment coming from unknown sender.

Even if the email address from which the mail and attachement were sent is one that is familair to you, pay attention to the type of attachement. there are plenty of viruses out there that go in and grab the address book and then send out messages with infected attachments. the "I Love You" virus from about ten years ago comes to mind immediately.
If the verbiage in the text of the letter does not sound like the person the email purportedly came from, and if the attachment is something different from a standard "doc" or "pdf" file, then make sure you scan it first with some sort of virus software before you ever open the attachment. |
