It is possible to transfer files while chatting. But I understand it may not be as safe as it should be. Because the file is transferred through a direct connection between both the PC's the risk is higher. I would like to get your views on this.

I have transferred small files while chatting with someone while using Yahoo chat. Generally, I do not recommend sending any files that contain proprietary information, although I did send a file to a co worker who was in another state via chat, but only because our email was not working at the time. I generally do not recommend sending anything with sensiitive information through a file transfer via chat.

IM is not a secure way to send files.
Another twist to the tale is that if you are using voice enabled apps like skype and MSN on Vista someone can use the voice command function on vista run a file they send you. |
