For a professional security/surveillance system, in my opinion, wired is the way to go. Wireless systems can be great in covert or temporary situations but for 24 hour surveillance running cables (although involving slightly more installation work) is likely to offer a much more stable option.

I agree. I was recently doing some research for a friend who needs get his business wired, and the reliability of wired seems alot better. Maybe more initial trouble but after that, more reliable!

Yes, certainly. If you go wireless, things outside of your contol can sometimes play a part in the quality of the images you capture and the wireless interference levels.

I to have heard that wired are better. But personally I would opt to hire someone to set it all up. I would just be afraid that I wouldn't get it right and then something would go wrong when needed.

Most wired systems are not too difficult anymore, it's really just a case of deciding where to run your cables - then link one end to your camera and the other to your DVR. You can use two core cable and so run the video signal and power down one stretch of cable, this makes things easier as you only need 1 cable run from each camera back to your DVR location, you can then power each camera individually from this location if you want to.

We don't have anyone who does this kind of installation around here. I was just wondering if anyone knew if there is a certain kind that is easily wired or should it be done by a professional only? Thanks

yes, wired camera will be a better option if possible, we are professional supplier of security surveillance products, we supply both wired and wireless cameras, but sometimes the imaging wireless camera is not so steable, the worse is that the transmitting distance of wireless cameras are very short, maybe around 5-10m in indoor surrounding.

Rogerdee please read my post on the wireless problems I had. If you use a wireless home network a 2.4 Ghz camera system can interfere with your network.
