At the door

My grandmother told me of something that happened lately. She got a knock at the door and someone said he was giving away free movie tickets. Luckily she thought it was odd and quickly told him no thanks, closed and locked the door. It turns out people were going around trying to get into homes of older people.

How scary! And it's even worse that they seem to be preying on older people. Our generation has no problem looking someone in the eye and saying "Get out of my house." Our grandparents were raised to be pleasant, social, and kind to strangers. "Never turn a guest away" was my grandmother's motto.

Luckily she did the right thing. It's really scary. Though many know about not opening the doors to strangers but doing it right on spot in a live situation need courage.

Always have a peep hole installed at your door so that you won't have to open your front door to know who is standing outside.
