Blogging is lots of fun. I do it myself, and love every minute of it. However, I'm amazed at what some people reveal in their blogs, such as their hometowns and their kids names and schools, sometimes even family pictures...all the information needs some pedophile needs to convince a child he's a friend. ("Hi, Jack, I'm Mr. Doe. Your home got held up at work, so she sent me to bring you over to Company X.")
Parents, I know you're proud of your kids, but protect them online by not sharing too much personal information about them, or about yourselves. Granted, it's not likely someone bad will pick up on it...but it could happen, and why not avoid the possibility entirely by giving your kids pseudonyms when you write about them and being vague about your location. |

There was a news piece this weekend about a woman who didn't get a job she applied for after her potential employers read her blog. She had described the interview, complained about the money, and said she might take something else. Then she wondered why they never called her again lol.

That's exactly what they did ....and everything and more about her interview with them was on her blog. Stupid woman and she was crying the blues. How can anyone think that anything with your whole name on it is private online? IT's almost laughable but she's out of a new job!

Yep, I think people forget that once they put it on the internet it's out there, and anyone can read it including pedophiles, identity thieves, potential employers and lovers, etc. Someone my nephew knew at school got in trouble this year for posting something mean about a female classmate on his blog. I asked my nephew what he thought about all that and he said, referring to the poster, "what a stupid jerk." Two thumbs up, the kid has a moral compass!

You're right though you just never know who is looking at your blog. And it is so easy to be looking for something else and have your blog pop up because you may have touched on the subject once that the person is searching for.
