Have you considered an intercom?

Eventually, I would like to have an intercom, with camera, at my front door so that I never need stand at the door to find out who is on the other side. I would prefer to speak to the uninvited through a speaker rather than opening the door at all.

What is the price range for a home security system with these features?

I really have no idea how much they would cost. I wouldn't think it would be to much though. It is a good idea. One I never really thought of for my actual house.

This is a great idea, and I imagine the price would be reasonable. I'd like to have this myself. Right now my policy is to check the peephole and not answer the door if I don't know the person.
