Hi All,
I found this device in my kitchen cabinet , it had glue on the back of it, and had fallen down from the underside of the cabinet. Picture included. Can anyone tell me what this is? I have been to many stores, electronics stores, I have even asked the general handy man to take a look at it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thank you for taking a look. Any help will be very much appreciated. -Nirawen (Shelley) |

I also had the feeling it could be some sort of ultrasonic pest repeller but haven't found one like it anywhere so that was just a hunch that it could be more innocent than it looks. But if that's what it is why glue it? Seems it would be double-sided taped or something instead of glued.
If it's possibly working try holding it around a pet or hamster or bug and see if they avoid it. Otherwise it looks sinister doesn't it? |

Initial thought would also have been a listening device - but looking at the images, one thing that struck me is that it looks as though it has a miniature speaker.
After Jim's comments, it would make a lot of sense if the object were an ultrasonic transmitter to keep away rodents, etc. Got to admit, though, they do tend to be larger and not miniature, though that doesn't mean to say they aren't available somewhere. |

It does not look like a speaker for voice recognition or intruder alerts. Not one that I have seen anyway. It could easily be a pest control device but I have not seen one that big either (not an expert on those). If it is for pest control then I would expect you would find another one of those somewhere in your home.

Easy way to tell if it's a bug is find someone with a frequency counter and see if it's putting out a frequency.

it at first glance say its a Spy toy of some sort then when I was in Cyprus my friend installed a Pet thing into his Food area for ants and etc and it look like that he fitted it behind his cabinets, But why not Try a Pet Store or some where like that.

It reminds me of the mouthpiece portion on an old telephone. How old does it look to be? I'm wondering if it could be from the same era that the design was used on telephones.
Strange...I hope you figure it out. |
