Hi

just had an off the shelf home system installed, daytime pictures decent enough for me, though night time pix seems to bleed (no idea what the tech term is) - not crisp as I would like.

Wonder if I could improve things by using Cat V & Baluns and reducing the surplus wire lengths?

Currently all 3 lengths of surplus wire (and theres quite a bit) have been coiled together and taped up - would this be a cause for any concern or quality drop?

Or should I just accept the stuff off the shelf is limited for the money?

Thanks for your valuable time and any advice you can offer

Email notifications not working

HI
I am having trouble with my email notifications from my DVR
I have an avtech dvr 674.
I am using google mail for my email client.
I receive the email notification when a motion is detected and also a html attachment which i presume should be a section of video containing the event.

On my android phone selecting the attachment runs a web page but does not populate time and date boxs etc and does not do anything.

On my laptop selecting the email attachment shows a web page that has been populated with time date and channel number. On selecting OPEN a save file box is presented. Having saved the file (only 6 k in size) the attachment does not run.

ANY IDEAS!:(

Wondered if anyone could recommend a DVR with some cool features? Been looking at the AlienDVR range but they're quite expensive.

Ideal features are:
8 channel
good quality resolution and frame rate on all channels
ability to log in across to internet to view images and control unit
and
would love both email notification AND iphone push message when movement rules are triggered

can anyone please recommend such a unit?

cheers
